CLIENT SECURITY BOARD CHANGES

ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Client Security Board elected Duluth attorney Cheryl M. Prince as its Chair at its June 23, 2025, meeting.  Ms. Prince will serve as Chair beginning July 1, 2025, and has been an attorney member of the Board since 2019.  Ms. Prince is a shareholder at the Hanft Fride Law Firm in Duluth, Minnesota, where she maintains a family law practice.  In addition to her service with the Client Security Board, Ms. Prince has been an active volunteer on numerous boards and committees focused on attorney regulation and ethics including serving as a former Board Member and Vice-Chair on the Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board, former chair of the 11^th District Bar Associations District Ethics Committee, and currently is a volunteer investigator on the 11th District Bar Association Ethics Committee, as well as a member of the Minnesota Supreme Court Board of Law Examiners, among other volunteer activities. 

The Client Security Fund was established by the Minnesota Supreme Court, and is funded by Minnesota attorneys to reimburse clients who suffer loss of money or other property due to the dishonest conduct of their attorney.  The Fund does not cover losses resulting from negligence of lawyers.  The Fund is administered by a Board appointed by the Court, and consists of five lawyer members and two non-lawyer members.  All serve without compensation as a public service.
