Duluth, MN: Hanft Fride is proud to welcome Hal Spott to the firm as an associate attorney. Spott joined the firm in May 2018 and will focus his practice on business law, commercial law, wills, trust and probate, real estate law and litigation.
“We’re very pleased to add Hal to our legal team,” said Jennifer Carey, President of Hanft Fride. “His experience as a law clerk and with the Minnesota Department of Administration has prepared him to thrive in our environment.”
Spott earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Minnesota Law School and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hamline University. While in law school, Spott led the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition team to multiple legal writing awards and spent a summer studying at Notre Dame Law School’s international campus in London, England.
Upon earning his Juris Doctor, Spott worked as a Star of the North Fellow with the State of Minnesota’s Department of Administration and also served as a law clerk for the Honorable Presiding Judge Roberto C. Naraja on the island of Saipan, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
As a fourth generation Duluthian, Spott is thrilled to return to his hometown to practice law. Spott has deep roots in the community and is an active volunteer. For many years, Spott has served as a volunteer with the Duluth/Superior Eco Rotary, where he has completed environmental-focused advocacy work for Grandma’s Marathon and Spirit Mountain Ski Lodge, among other organizations.
