Jesse Smith joined Hanft Fride as an associate in August 2022 and is licensed to practice in Minnesota. Prior to attending law school and joining Hanft, Jesse worked for almost a decade at his family’s small business in the Twin Cities, which highlighted numerous intersections with the law and motivated him to pursue a legal education.
At the University of Minnesota law school, Jesse enjoyed a variety of practical legal experiences, including working directly on human rights cases across the US with the law school’s Human Rights Litigation Clinic, and internships with a death penalty appeals attorney, an internet domain name arbitration company, and a risk management/compliance company.
He is excited to use his experiences to assist small and family-owned businesses in any legal issues they face, particularly those in the areas of business formation and operation, contracts, litigation, and estate planning.
